Getting a project off the ground

Here’s what you’ll need to get your project started:

  • A copy of the specification sheet, signed by an authorized person who will be billed for the project;
  • A signed copy of the Declaration of Intellectual Property form;
  • Your payment as set out in the agreement;
  • All of your material, meeting our specifications. Day 1 of your project timeline is when we receive your approval of the proofs, except for runs of under 300 units, in which cases Day 1 is when we receive all of the material. The required material includes your master disc and all of the graphics files needed for printing, along with your payment.

Accepted forms of payment

  • Cash
  • Certified cheque payable to “Communication Serdu inc.”
  • Postal money order made out to “Communication Serdu inc.”
  • VISA or MASTERCARD

Supported format

We support most formats.  Make sure that your master is exactly what you want, because we make identical copies. It’s a good idea to test it beforehand in a number of work environments.

Masters created with programs such as “Direct CD” or “IN Cd” which use packet-writing cannot be read by all devices. It’s better to rewrite them using a standard software program that creates the CD in one step (DAO – Disc at Once). If you are unable to do so, we can do it for you.

We cannot duplicate Karoke format discs on CD-R

Info about the CD-R and DVD-R discs we use

Unless we mention otherwise, we use high-end discs such as JVC-Professionals (Taiyo Yuden) or Verbatim.

Care and maintenance of CD-R and DVD-R

The underside of the disc (the recording side) must be clean, with no scratches, fingerprints, dust or other blemishes. Cleaning discs can damage them. If your disc needs cleaned, consult a specialist. You can remove dust by running a soft, dry cloth over the surface. Never use a circular motion. The main precautions to take with a writable disc are:

  • Never touch the underside;
  • Always handle the disc by the sides or the centre hole;
  • Never place the disc directly on a hard surface;
  • Always put the disc back in its case after use;
  • Never write on the underside of the disc;
  • If you have to write on the disc, write only on the upper side in the space reserved for writing;
  • Use a felt-tipped pen with indelible, non-toxic ink;
  • Never leave a disc exposed to direct sunlight;
  • Don’t leave a disc in an environment that’s too hot or too cold.

File formats for printing

Our preferred format is high-resolution PDF. We also accept Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign files. Word processing formats, such as MS-Word are not acceptable.

All documents must be prepared according to the standards of commercial printing. Consult the “Templates and specifications” section for more information on how to prepare your files.

Turnaround times

We do everything humanly possible to respect our promised delivery dates, but there is always the chance that something will happen that is beyond our control, such as: equipment breakdown, supply difficulties, shipping problems, weather conditions and other events that may affect delivery of your order. We strongly suggest that you make allowances for unexpected events when fixing your deadlines.

If you have a deadline that you absolutely must meet, we need to know that when you place your order.
